OMG ladies…I don’t know about you, but I’m loving the new items at Anthropologie this month. There are a ton of things that I want from Anthro, but I was able to limit my list to 3 items. And they are all dresses. I have one overall favorite that I think I’m going to have to break down and buy - it's the Veiled Alder Dress. I love everything about this dress, the look, the color and the cut. Have any of you tried on this dress yet? Fresh Picks to Follow: Breast Cancer Awareness
Happy Friday everyone! I hope that you all are looking forward to the weekend. I just realized earlier today that I haven’t posted anything yet for the month. So, here it is – finally. I’m sorry that I’m a little behind. Lately, my job has been consuming most of my free time. I’m so excited that it’s October – this month is one of my favorites. When I was younger, I grew up in New Jersey Jersey was the fall weather, watching the leaves change colors, picking fresh apples, Halloween and my sister’s birthday. Anyways, I wanted to focus this week’s Fresh Picks to Follow on an issue that touches so many people’s lives. As many of you know, the month of October is designated as breast cancer awareness month.One thing I wanted to do is bring your attention to a few organizations that promote breast cancer awareness and research 365 days out of the year. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® is dedicated to preventing breast cancer and finding a cure in our lifetime by funding clinical and translational research worldwide. Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1 billion since inception in 1982. Men Against Breast Cancer (MABC) is the first national non-profit that provide national support services to educate and empower men to be effective care givers and helping men cope with the impact of a loved one's breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) organization is comprised of several national public service organizations, professional medical associations, and government agencies working in partnership to build breast cancer awareness, share information and provide access to screening services. And lastly, the National Breast Cancer Foundation is an organization that is focused on saving lives by increasing awareness of breast cancer through education and by providing mammograms for those in need.
I currently work part-time for a retailer that donates a portion of the sale proceeds on certain products towards breast cancer research. It’s wonderful to work for a company that is dedicated to helping the community and bringing awareness to this cause. Today, I wanted to highlight some major retailers that also do the same. Fresh Picks to Follow: The Dramatic Cape
I’m so happy that it’s Friday everyone because I have been looking forward to this weekend for a couple of months. I signed up for the Marine Corps half marathon at the end of August and it’s finally time to run. I have been training for the past couple of months and I’m ready for all 13.1 miles. I’ll post a race-recap about it very soon.
Anyways, this week’s Fresh Picks to Follow was inspired by Pamela from Ginger Girl when she wore an old beautiful cape from Anthropologie. The cape is making a comeback this fall and it’s been called one of the must haves for the season. I have to say that I never really paid attention to this trend over the past couple years. Capes reminds me a little of a combination of the fairy tale - “Little Red Riding Hood” and the super hero - “Superwoman.” However, the capes that are designed today are much more than a flowy piece of fabric with a neck tie made famous by our favorite storybook characters. Today’s capes are far more elegant, versatile and figure-flattering. They come in various fabrics, sizes and colors - from cashmere to wool, ankle length to knee length, camel to fall colors or plaids. What I love about the cape is that it is both stylish and it looks comfortable. The cape is a great accessory to wear with any outfit as an alternative to a jacket. I plan to try to try on some capes to see if this item is something I need in my wardrobe. I do live in Florida
