Moody Style: Setting Sail

Hi everyone…I hope that everyone is having a great week so far.  I’m slowly easing into my life back here in Florida.  I had such a wonderful time in Chicago, that returning home made me pine for the Windy City even more.  For my first trip to the city, I think I saw and did as much things as any other tourist would do on their first trip.  Luckily for me, I’m fortunate to have my amazing friend, M, graciously host my sister and I for the entire weekend.  She took us just about everywhere imaginable and really made sure we had a fantastic time.  Thanks M!  I plan to post some of the highlights of my trip very soon.  Anyways, I wanted to share a quick OOTD from the weekend.  Especially since I ended up daydreaming a little at work today about my time on the sailboat.  The boat ride was definitely the most relaxing part of my trip.  Now that I’m back at work, I’m really longing to reverse time and set sail (again).  But reality has set in and I just have to look forward to the weekend to relax. I’m hoping to catch up on my sleep and run some errands for my apartment – I know I have a fun weekend planned.  How do you all get back to reality after a wonderful weekend getaway or long vacation?  Do you have any tricks that you would like to share?

Moody Style: Cruising Altitude

I’m finally in Chicago for my Memorial weekend getaway. I’m super excited about seeing the Sears Tower, shopping on the Magnificent Mile, visiting 2 Anthro stores, going to the Navy Pier and eating at some amazing food. However, the only thing that I wasn’t excited about is the travel portion of my trip.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love to travel, but I always get a little anxious when I have to go to the airport.  I usually make sure that I leave my house about 2 hours before my flight, which ideally should be enough time to park and get through security.  As much as I plan out my trip, I never know what to expect when I travel.  On my way to the airport today, there was a small fender bender that backed up traffic on the interstate.  Once I got to parking lot, I had to wait about 15 minutes for the shuttle. Also, my connecting flight was delayed about 20 minutes pushing my arrival time back.

With all that being said my number one most annoying thing about traveling is waiting to board and deplane the airplane.  I know that everyone has to do it and I even know what to expect, but there is something about it makes me feel rushed.  I usually have a tough time finding space in an overhead been and today one of my fears came true.  I had to put my carry-on in an overhead bin towards the front of the plane and I sat in the very back of the plane.  When I got to the bin my luggage was gone.  I asked the flight attendants about it, but all of them were as confused as I was.  As I walked on the jetway, I saw my bag being dragged by an older couple and I quickly approached them.  They obviously grabbed the wrong bag. I was just glad that I saw them in time.  Anyways, I’m not going to let this experience ruin my trip.  I plan to have lots of fun this weekend.  Do you have any pet peeves about the traveling process?

In the Mood: CĂ©line Luggage Tote

Some of my favorite bloggers have been sporting some variation of the CĂ©line Luggage Tote lately.  Check out Blair from Atlantic Pacific wearing the CĂ©line Nano Luggage Tote (here) and Ahn from 9to5 Chic wearing the CĂ©line Luggage Tote (here).  Each time I see someone wearing one of the tote bags, I swoon.  If you can’t tell I’m a little obsessed with this bag right now.  I really love the look of this bag – the rigid structure, the matching wavy scrolls and all of the space and roominess of this functional tote.

I love it so much that I attempted to track down at least one of these tote, but I had a tough time finding one anywhere.  And it seems like I’m not alone.  Apparently there are some people who have been on a waiting list for months in hopes of buying this bag.  The list gets longer especially when someone is looking for a certain color like the highly sought after fluo pink color pictured here.

The only thing that stopped me from putting my name on a waiting list is the price.  I had a feeling this bag was a little pricey, but I had no idea how much.  The average price tag ranges upward from $2000 depending on the variation of the tote bag.  Looks like I’m going to be adding this one to my bucket list of luxury items.  Do you love the CĂ©line Luggage Tote as much as I do?  Do you already own one?  If so, what do you love about this bag?  Let me know ladies!

miscellany monday

happy monday everyone – i’ve added my random ramblings to carissa’s miscellany monday party!  check out carissa’s blog here and join in on the fun.

{one} fifty shades of grey.  have you heard about the book, fifty shades of grey by e.l. james? i hadn’t heard about it until recently.  i overheard some of my co-workers talking about it at lunch and they referred to it as “mommy porn.”  they all said that the book was really good and very racey.  i was definitely intrigued and i decided to look into this a little further. the book is described by the new york times as an erotic novel by an obscure author.  this book is the first part of a trilogy and it has jumped to the #1 book on the new york times best sellers list.  i just picked up a copy of this book today.  i can’t wait to get started tonight.  i’ll let you know what i think when i’m finished.  have any of you read this book yet? what did you think about it?

{two} travel.  i’m headed to chicago for the first time for the memorial day weekend. i’m visiting one of my dearest friends, m, and one of my sisters is coming along for the festivities.  i’m super excited - we are going to have a blast! have any of you gone to chicago before?  what was your favorite part?

{three} ellen degeneres.  who doesn’t love ellen degeneres? i don’t know about you all, but i think ellen is amazing.  she’s so quirky, funny and truly inspiring.  i really believe that she makes so many people genuinely happy when they see her.  i think that because she seems really sincere about what whatever topic she talks about and that she really cares about all of her fans.  do any of you watch her show? what do you love about her show?

do you have any miscellaneous musings that you would like to share today? if you want to see some other random thoughts, check out the miscellany monday button to the right.

Fresh Picks to Follow – Peter Pan Collar

I’m sure that you all have noticed everyone wearing the Peter Pan collar or the girly rounded-edge collar this spring.  Celebrities from Alexa Chung and Rachel Bilson to Pipa Middleton and Emma Watson have continued to rock this trend since last year and they look amazing doing it. This style has made its way back into limelight from its original debut in 1905.  Like any other trend this look comes and goes throughout the years, but now you can found one in just about every store.  This trend is easy and simple to recreate with any wardrobe.  One way to recreate the look is by adding a detachable version, like an embellished collar necklace, to a plain dress to achieve an eye-catching neckline. For this week’s Fresh Pick to Follow, here are my top 10 ways to incorporate the Peter Pan Collar into your wardrobe.  Do you like this trend or do you own any Peter Pan Collars right now?

3. Tucker - Peter Pan Collar Blouse…$322.00
4. Tinley Road - Peter Pan Collar Dress…$69.00

Moody Style: Pretty in Pink

I bought this skirt several months ago during the winter months and I never had the chance to wear it. I’m super happy that I was able to wear it the other day for the first time.  When I first bought it, I worried that I wouldn’t find the right top to wear with this pleated beauty.  And there was a small part of me that wasn’t really sure that I loved this skirt, until I wore it.  I envisioned wearing this skirt with a striped shirt or something plain because of all the details in the skirt.  I was over the moon when I scored this striped top from Old Navy for $6.00 several weeks ago.  Did any of you buy this skirt from Anthropologie last year? I would love to know how you styled it.  I’m looking for some ideas for future outfits, so let me know.

Since I was able to finally put this outfit together, it made me think about some of my other clothes that I have in my closet waiting to make their debut.  Believe it or not, but I have a handful of things from Anthro and other stores that I haven’t worn yet because I am either waiting for the right occasion or the right season.  Do any of you have this problem? Is there anything in your closet that you can’t wait to wear, but you haven’t worn yet?
