Moody Girl Eats: 12-Minute Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts & Bacon

I can't believe that it has literally been years since I've posted any recipes on my blog.  You may not know this, but actually I really enjoy cooking; however, my current job requires me to travel so much that I'm hardly home to cook up any thing good.  But ever since the Florida governor executed the coronovirus stay at home order, I've been cooking like a mad woman.  I've tested out a few new recipes already over the past few weeks and I've whipped up some of my old favorites. My new air fryer has been a total game changer for adding a little flexibility to some of my meals, especially roasted vegetables. I love that I don't have to wait 10 minutes for the oven to preheat and I don't have to wait a long time to eat them like I did in the past.  Anyways, here is a quick recipe that I used to make my air fryer brussels sprouts last week.  These make the perfect side or base when you're watching your carb intake.

12-Minute Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts & Bacon

1 lb. brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved lengthwise
4 - 5 slices bacon, cut into pieces
2 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and toss to combine and coat brussels sprouts evenly. Transfer brussels sprouts to air fryer basket.

Turn air fryer on to 400 F and cook for 12 minutes, until brussels sprouts are cooked through and golden brown on the edges.

*quick note: check in on the brussels sprouts every 5 minutes and stir to make sure that it cooks evenly and that they don't burn.

**If you don't have an air fryer, then you can roast them in the oven like normal.

Holiday Gift Guide: Gifts for the Comfort Seeker

**CLICK ANY IMAGE TO SHOP THE ITEM DIRECTLY**

I wasn't sure if I was going to post any gift guides this year, but I found some time to get a few of them done. I know that Christmas is a little over 2 weeks away, so you can consider this a guide for the last minute shopper.  I really tried hard to be more organized and get most of my shopping done early, but I definitely procrastinated this year.  And now I'm stuck trying to find the perfect gift at the very last minute.

Anyways, my first gift guide for the season is for the comfort seeker.  This guide is perfect for anyone that you know who is a homebody or loves feeling cozy.  I just ordered this pom pom blanket for a gift for a new homeowner and this coffee/tea warmer for myself. And these monogram mugs are my go-to gifts every single year.  I just pop a Starbucks gift card inside or some Hershey's kisses and I'm all set.  Needless to say, I think all of these ideas would make a fabulous gift for any lady in your life.  Check out the post below and let me know what are some of your favorite comfy items that you can't live without!

MY SEAFOOD CELEBRATION EXPERIENCE:

Mood to Shop: Opalhouse for Target

Target just launched a new home decor line earlier today called Opalhouse.  This line is filled with bold, vibrant and eclectic home decor that is inspired by designs from around the world. If you're looking for a something that's a little boho chic and a little bit of Anthropologie, then this is the collection for you. The collection includes more than 1,350 home decor pieces, like bedding, bath, tabletop and furniture. I stopped by the store earlier today to see the Opalhouse collection in person and seriously I wanted everything. One thing that impressed me the most about the collection was all of the details. The bedding and the throws really felt soft and plush and the pillows had so much texture. Naturally, I brought a few things home from my shopping trip like this Elephant Basket, this Crochet with Tassels Shower Curtain, this Tufted Oversize Lumbar Throw Pillow and this Lory Pouf in the Black and White Textured

Moody Picks: Last Minute Mother’s Day Gifts For Under $100

I swear Mother’s Day always seems to sneak up on me year after year.  Is anyone else in the same boat?  Well, don’t worry because I put together a quick last minute Mother’s Day gift guide for all of you procrastinators who's still searching for the perfect gift.  This year I found 25 beautiful gifts that mom will absolutely love and they are all under $100.  Check out the photo below to shop this year’s picks and be prepared to make her day.  Because if there’s one thing that mom really loves, is any gift that came from you.

And if your mom prefers experiences instead of an actual gift, here are a few ideas on how to spend time with your mom on Mother’s Day:

1. Spa Day: Take your mom to her favorite day spa for a day of pampering.  You can schedule a relaxing massage followed by a facial or a mani-pedi to make sure that your mom leaves the spa feeling fresh and fabulous.

2. Workout and Brunch: Treat your mom to a fun day with some physical activities. Whether it’s sightseeing a new town on a bike tour, going for a walk/run in a new location, signing her up to attend new fitness class or trying out a local rock-climbing gym. Afterwards, grab a smoothie or a healthy meal at her favorite brunch spot.

3. A New Class and Dinner: Surprise your mom with an art or crafting class that she’s been dying to try or you and your mom can sharpen your cooking skills by signing up for a cooking class.  For example, I think an activity like Painting with a Twist followed by dinner could be a fun Mother’s Day activity.

Mood Board – Dream Dressing Room

I’m so excited to finally share this post with you. I was recently inspired by Arhaus to share a post on my ideal dream dressing room mood board along with a few design tips! I’m no where close to being an interior designer, but I do love putting together mood boards to illustrate some ideas I have about my dream home. I currently live in an apartment, so most of you understand that I’m in desperate need of an upgrade from my small walk-in closet to a boutique-inspired room complete with extra seating, stylish lighting and other luxuries. And although I won’t be moving into my perfectly spacious closet any time soon, a girl is never too old to keep dreaming right? Anyways, if you’re contemplating a closet upgrade or simply just daydreaming about it, here are 5 tips to keep in mind when creating your new space:

1. Mirrors: Be sure to add mirrors and/or mirrored doors to the space because it adds light to the room and also provides views from every angle while getting dressed. The right mirror can add a little character to the space as well. I love how this one has a distressed finish creating a vintage style to this closet.

2. Incorporate an Island: If you have extra space in your closet, then try to incorporate an island in the space. An island makes a statement in any room, especially a closet since it’s rare to see. You can have one built in or use a dresser or chest like these here. The dresser I picked out below has the right details to transform a typical closet into a stylish sanctuary. It also has additional drawers for storage and space to lay out clothing for a better view when packing or organizing.

3. Jewelry and Accessories Station: Take inspiration from your favorite stores or boutiques to display your collection of clutches and handbags, statement necklaces, bracelets, earrings and shoes. Adding displays like a mannequin, a rolling rack, a jewelry armoire or an open bookcase for your shoes are perfect ways to create a unique and sophisticated space.

4. Seating Arrangement: In order for your walk-in closet to be truly functional and enjoyable, you’ll need proper seating. An ottoman or an armchair is the perfect solution. You can lay out outfits on the ottoman or sit on the chair to get your shoes on. It’s also an easy way to bring color into your closet to make it feel like every other room in the home

5. Proper Lighting: Light fixtures in closets are necessary especially when they lack natural lighting. Finding the right outfit by making sure the colors match and/or making sure that your outfit isn’t too sheer requires proper lighting. Go for an elegant style if you want to replicate a celebrity-style closet. Adding a chandelier like any of these here will certainly do just the trick.

Well, there you have it. Check out some of my favorite pieces from Arhaus for my dream dressing room below. What would your dream dressing room look like? Do you already have one? Let me know if you have any other furniture suggestions for this room.
