I finally
put together a quick list of some things I’ve had my eye on this month. I know it’s the last day of the month, but as
the old saying goes, better late than never. I'm really looking forward to getting cooler weather just I can start wearing some fall clothes. I have a little longer of a wait than most, so I make sure I do some planning now. Anyways, check out some of my must-haves
for the month and let me know what you think. Have you already started
adding some new pieces to your fall wardrobe? What are some of your must-haves?
With
Labor Day just around the corner, we all know that cooler days are ahead for
most of us. Transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall could get expensive
if you decide to ditch all of your summer clothes. But there’s no need to spend your whole paycheck
trying to keep up with all of the new fashion trends. All you have to do is pair up a few fall
must-haves with your summer collection to create a new look and transition into
fall with style. Adding deeper colors, like burgundy, olive green and grey, mixing
different textures like tweed and corduroy wearing leggings or tights and
layering for warmth are a few ways that will allow for some of your summer
clothes to stay around for another season without spending too much cash.
In an effort
to help save you money, I’ve put together a quick guide for you with my 12 fall
fashion essentials to help you transition your wardrobe from summer to fall.
And the best part is that everything is under $50!
1. A Plaid Shirt:
There’s nothing more classic for the fall season than a plaid print. From
buffalo plaids, tartan plaids to plaids embellished with gems, there's an
option for everyone this season. Pair your favorite plaid shirt with some
boyfriend jeans for a casual look or with a pencil skirt for a stylish office
ensemble.
2. A Cozy Cardigan:
A cardigan is the perfect piece for layering all year long. You can wear it over a t-shirt or
button-downed shirt or you can wear it under a blazer and warm winter coat. A
cardigan a great alternative to a turtleneck or pullover style, especially in offices
or buildings where you have no idea how cold it’s going to be.
3. A Sharp Blazer: Blazers
are flattering on every size and shape.A classic black blazer is a smart investment as the temperatures start
to get cooler. And since you'll wear it
all the time allow yourself to splurge a little on the price for better
quality. Pair it with a cute sundress or wear it over a white tank and jeans
for a sophisticated yet sporty look that will take you into fall.
4. Faux Leather
Jacket: A leather jacket is a fall must-have piece that you should defintely
add to your wardrobe. You can create a
basic look by adding a leather jacket to a t-shirt and skinny jeans. Or you can
rock an edgy look by adding a leather jacket to a breezy sundress.A real leather jacket could get a little
pricey, but there’s no need to fret. There are so many affordable faux leather jackets available this fall so
you don’t need to break the bank.
5. Shirt Dress: Practical and versatile, the shirtdress is a
classic and simple silhouette that will transition effortlessly from summer to
fall.A shirtdress is so easy to wear
and with the right accessories you can dress is up with a beltand some heels or dress it down by layering
over some jeans.
6. Darkwashed Skinny Jeans: Most of us are wear white or
light-washed denim over the summer, but as we transition to fall, it’s time to
start wearing jeans in a darker wash. Darkwashed jeans work perfectly with
lightweight sweaters, plaids and a leather jacket.
7. Leggings: Leggings are one of those fashion trends that
return year after year, so get ready because you're going to continue seeing
them everywhere.When it comes to
styling your favorite pair, you can add it under a flowy dress or tunic and throw
on a pair of heels or booties to create a spicy outfit.
8. Ankle Booties: An easy way to transition into fall is
buying a pair of ankle booties.Grab a
couple of neutral color booties to pair with jeans, dresses and skirt and
extend the life of your wardrobe.
9. Choker Necklace:Chokers have made a come back from the 90’s and it’s a great way to tie
in a new trend into your current wardrobe. There are so many price options out there likc $3 options from Forever
21 to $40 options at Shopbob. I also think this is something you can make
yourself if you have a DIY spirit. In my
opintion, there’s no need to spend too much on this trend, but I think it would
be fun to try.
10. Oversized Scarf: Bundling up from fall through winter is
vital in cities like New York City and Chicago and the best way to keep you
warm is with an oversized or chunky scarf. This is the queintesstial fall fashion accessory!
11. The Saddle Bag: The saddle bag purse is the definitely the
shape of the season. Team it up now with a fun maxi dress for the final days of
summer and later in the fall with a shirt dress and some cute booties as the
temperature drops.
12. Wool Hat: It’s almost time to toss the straw hat
you’ve been wearing all summer aside and pick up a wool fedora! We all know
that hats are perfect for the summer, but they also work great in cooler
weather.
Pink, pink and more pink! J.Crew definitely wants all of us to
think pink this fall. I finally had a
chance to see the new arrivalsin person at J.Crew today and I actually tried on a few pieces as well. I’ll share my fitting room tryons in a later
post, so stay tuned. I was pretty
excited to see so many beautiful shades of pink sprinkled throughout the
store. I wanted to try everything on as
soon as I walked in. Every shop had
something for everyone – bold bright colors, paisley prints, a beautiful
leopard pattern, subtle ruffles here and there and even a little glitter. To
stay that I love the fall collection is an understatement. I literally want to buy everything right now. One of the first things I plan to buy is the
Margot Topin airy cotton pique. This
top reminds me of some of the older J.Crew pieces that you’ll never get tired of seeing.
Another item that’s at the top of my list is the Cuffed-Sleeve Topin
leopard print. This timeless top is a great
statement piece that you can pair up with just about anything - remember
leopard is a neutral. And last, but
not least, I don't want to miss out on the Rhodes Blazer in Italian Wool. The wild flamingocolor is
pretty spectacular.I didn’t know what
to expect when I saw it online, but in person the color is just wow. It’s not too bright nor is it too dark. The color has just the right amount of cool
tones in it to make it the perfect pop of color for fall.
Are you guys excited about this new
collection?Which items are you most
likely to buy?Have you checked out the
latest catalog yet?I didn’t get a copy
in the mail, but I did check out J.Crew’s Pinterest board for some pinspiration.Well, my favorite items from J.Creware pictured below and I’m sure they will put you all in a good mood! Check them out and
let me know what you’re loving this month.

Happy Friday
Eve! I hope that you all are having a great week so far. I’ve been traveling for work since Sunday and
I still have one more day to go, so needless to say I’m ready for the weekend. I’m also ready for a vacation. I realized earlier today that I haven’t taken
a real vacation this summer yet. I’ve gone
on mini trips here and there, but nothing like a true vacation where I’m
sitting on a beach soaking up the rays or exploring a new city. Hopefully, I’ll get something planned soon,
so stay tuned.
The sleeveless cowl neck shift dressthat I’m wearing was one of the first pieces that I wore from the
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This dress is so easy to wear now by itself in
the summertime with some cute sandals and accessories. And it will transition perfectly later into
the fall season. Just add some booties
and a denim or utility jacket and you’re ready for cooler weather. A few weeks ago, I packed this dress to visit
my sister out of town for the weekend.
This dress is so soft and lightweight, that it was easy to add to my
luggage. I decided to wear this dress to
church because it’s comfortable and it’s a versatile piece that you don’t have
to think about. When I originally saw
this casual dress online, I didn’t hesitate to order it right away. I had a feeling it was going to be a flattering
dress and I wasn’t disappointed. The
cowl neck has just the right amount of draping to it without make you feel too
constricted like a turtleneck. And this
dress has pockets, which automatically made it one of my go to dresses for rest
of the summer. Did any of you get this
dress during the #nsale? If you didn’t
you should still think about it. The
price isn’t bad at $38 and it comes in about 9 colors that include solid and
stripe options to choose from as well.
Happy Thursday friends! I finally had a chance to work on my Instagram Recap earlier this week. Here are all of my
Instagram posts from last month. I’ve added all of the links and similar
links of everything I’m wearing, so you too can recreate the look. Let me know
if you have any questions about the fit or sizing for these outfits in the
