Moody Style: Leap for Joy

Happy Leap Year everyone! Did any of you do anything fabulous today in honor of the leap year? I learned from my coworker that Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom Park will be open for 24 hours starting today at 6:00am.  How cool is that?  I wish I knew about that and could afford to go down to Orlando for the day.  I also learned that several retailers were offering a 29% off discount in honor of leap year.  I’m trying to be good and slow down my shopping, so I didn’t look into it. Did any of you hear of any other leap year deals?

So I have been thinking about all of the upcoming fashion trends for the spring and summer and I thought I should check out Forever 21.  Do any of you shop at this store? I went into the store a couple weeks ago and I fell in love with a ton of bright and colorful pieces.  Unfortunately, not all of them worked for me.  I went into the dressing room twice with about 6 items during each trip only to find about two things that actually fit my body. Is it just me or does anybody else have problems with their sizing?  What I learned from my trip is that it’s pretty clear that not every style of clothing fits the same.  I tried on several dresses and they all ranged from size small to large depending on the fit. Don’t expect to walk in and wear the same size that you would wear in other retailers – you will be disappointed.  You truly have to try everything on to find something that works best for your body type.   Despite my trouble with their sizes, I still plan to go back to find some more trendy pieces and accessories.  I’ll be sure to let you know how I do on the next trip.  Check out one of my finds in the picture below.  Let me know what you think.

miscellany monday

happy monday everyone – i’ve added my random ramblings to carissa’s miscellany monday party!  check out carissa’s blog here and join in on the fun.

{one} all star weekend.  i went to orlando this weekend to visit a friend of mine during nba all star weekend.  my sister also met us there to enjoy the festivities.  admittedly, i’m not the biggest basketball fan by any means.  i rarely watch any of the games and i don’t follow any specific team.  so needless to say that i didn’t recognize a majority of the players that were staying in our hotel.  on saturday night, my sister and i went out for a night out on the town…. let’s just say we had an adventure in downtown orlando.  on sunday, we  checked out the jam session and just hung out for a little bit before heading back home.

{two} a couple of blog giveaways.  mary over at the bright side of the moon is celebrating her first blogiversary and she hosting a giveaway for a chance to win a $50.00 anthropologie gift card. check out her blog here for all of the details on how to enter.  this contest will be running until thursday, march 1st.  The lovely ladies, kathryn and carol, over at in pursuit of pretty things are celebrating their second blogiversary and they are hosting a giveaway for a chance to win a jason wu for target straw clutch and a $50.00 gift card to your choice of anthropologie, j.crew or nordstrom.  they are also giving four other readers a chance to win necklaces and/or bracelets from ember arts.  check out their blog here for all of the details on how to enter.  their contest will run through sunday, march 4th.

{three} oscar night. did you all have a chance to watch the oscars last night? were you all pleased with the results?  i was a little surprised that the artist won best picture, but i guess the academy of motion picture arts and sciences (ampas) knows best.  i’ll have to watch the movie when it comes out on video.  i was super happy for octavia spencer for her win of best actress in a supporting role.  i loved the help and i was really rooting for it to win for best picture.

now on to one of the most important parts of oscar night – the fashion.  i always enjoy watching the red carpet and following up with all of the trends.   this year i fell in love with a number of dress, but i’ve narrowed it down to 5 favorites.  Check them out and let me know if you had any favorites.  all pictures via
