Moody Style: Inside Out

Have you ever gotten dressed and walked outside with your shirt inside out? I did it for the first time the other day and I was mortified when I noticed the awkward seams and the labels.  Luckily, I didn’t walk around inside out all day, my little embarrassing mishap occurred towards the end of the day.  I went for a run after work the other day and I needed to freshened up to attend a meeting directly afterwards.  I ended up getting dressed so quickly that I walked out of my office and didn’t even notice my shirt was on inside out.  The reason that I didn’t notice was because I had my blazer on during the meeting.  However, I took off the jacket after the meeting and ran a couple of errands.  I was really surprised that no one said anything considering that I went into two stores.  I only realized my crazy mistake when I noticed a lady looking at me funny.  When I looked at my shirt I was mortified.  I finished gathering my items and rushed to the register so I can head home.  I don’t know why I cared so much, but I did.  Have you ever done anything like this before?  What’s the most embarrassing thing that you have done in public? Let me know!

Fresh Picks to Follow – Navy and White

I don’t know about you all, but I really love all of the pre-spring clothes that are in the stores right now.  Many retailers have a transition collection after the New Year that usually consists of the nautical trend. The nautical navy and white stripes are typically dominant over the summer, but I think that this look is one that can last all year long. While there may not be many anchors or sailboats in the near future, there are plenty of long sleeved tops and thick chunky sweaters to create some layered looks for winter.  The versatile color combination of navy blue and white is great for creating classic outfits with clean and simple lines.  I particularly love the stripes and polka dots that have displayed the entryways of some of my favorite stores like Banana Republic and Anthropologie. Anyways, here are my top 10 navy and white items for this week’s Fresh Picks to Follow.  Do you have any favorite navy and white pieces in your closet?  Let me know what you think!

Keep or Toss: Ruffles and Stripes

Hiya ladies! Here is the first installment of my new series: Keep or Toss.  This is a shirt that has been in closet for several years, but it has never been worn until today.  I got this shirt as a gift from my mom and I really loved it at first, but for some reason I never wore it.  I had taken off all of the tags and I attempted to wear it several times, but the outfits weren’t quite right.  I always ended up finding something else to wear.  One of the reasons that I never wore this shirt is that I thought that I needed to dress it up a little because it’s silk. Unfortunately, when I tried on the shirt this morning I realized that it was a little big.  However, I was determined to wear it at least once, especially for this challenge.  I think that this outfit came out okay, but I don’t know if this is a shirt that’s going to stay in my closet. What do you all think?  Is this a shirt that I should keep or toss?

Fresh Picks to Follow – Pretty in Peplum

Hiya everyone.  I’m sorry that I didn’t get a chance to post my Fresh Picks to Follow yesterday…I got a little busy last night, so here it is.  I saw an article in a magazine about how to wear peplum and I thought this would be a great topic for my post for this week.  What I learned from the article is that wearing peplum is a great way to fake an hourglass figure. Peplum is an exaggerated shape that emphasizes the hips and highlights the waist. Peplum is defined as “a short overskirt or ruffle attached at the waistline of a jacket, blouse, or dress.”  This flouncy, frilly material adds ladylike glamour to any outfit that all body types can wear.  Some tips on how to wear peplum include: wearing a slim pant or a pencil skirt with a peplum top; adding a sturdy heel to any peplum skirt or dress; and keeping the peplum skirt or dress length to above the knee to avoid looking frumpy.  Do any of you have any peplum in your wardrobe?  Is this a look that you plan to wear this Spring?  Here are my top 10 ways to work peplum into your closet right now.
