Fitting Room Review: Another Shopping Day!

I hope that your new year has started off wonderfully.  Mine is starting off just lovely.  Yesterday, my boyfriend and I watch several movies and had some Maggiano’s take out…so delish.  Today has also been a low key day around the house.

So...onto the reviews. I went shopping in Orlando last Thursday and visited the Anthro at Mall at Millenia.  I always manage to find a handful of sale items and some of them always end up coming home with me.  Unfortunately, I have no will power.  I wanted to share these purchases with you all, but I don’t think everything will be staying with me.  I love everything that I bought so far, but that’s kind of the problem...check it out below:

1.  Kirklees Sweater Coat…$59.96

(small) I had already loved this sweater coat on all of the other bloggers, but I wanted to see it in person.  I really wanted to find this sweater, to see if it would fit.  When I saw this on the rack, I snag it and high tailed it to the fitting room.  I really hoped that it would fit and I’m glad that it did.  The pattern on the coat is unique and the colors are different, but they work.

2.  Hanakotoba Cardigan…$74.96

(small) What’s not to like with this cardigan?  This sweater has the most beautiful and colorful embroidery that I’ve ever seen. The sweater material is soft and somewhat on the thinner side, but still plenty sufficient. It is very comfortable and true to size.  This cardigan is perfect to add to a dress or just to add a punch of color to a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.

3.  Girl’s Best Friend Robe…$44.96

(small) So, I didn’t know that this was categorized as a robe when I tried it on.  This sweater is thick and soft and the intarsia diamonds pattern and colors are perfect.  This would be a great sweater to lounge around in the house.  The cashier told me that I could even wear it out of the house.

4.  I don’t know the name of these items…(prices from L to R) $37.46, $22.46, and $29.96.

5.  I don’t know this belt’s name; the receipt says it’s a Brocade Ribbon Belt…$14.96.

Here are some other items that I bought on another shopping adventure last week, but I didn’t take any pictures in the fitting room.

Saturday’s Favorite Henley…$29.96

Wee Hours Blouse…$37.46

Vapor Rise Dress…$59.96 (see review here)

Fitting Room Reviews: A Couple of Dresses

I hope that you ladies had a wonderful Christmas holiday with your family and friends.  I had a great time and I was happy to find a few Anthropologie goodies under the tree and an Anthro gift card.  I’ll let you know what I buy with the gift card in a later post.

Here are some fitting room reviews for a few full price items that I promised to post last week.

Field Skirt…$78.00

(Size: 6) This skirt fits TTS and I love all the colors that it comes in – Gold, Navy, Dark Grey and Khaki.  This skirt fits the same as the Circle the Globe skirt from the summer.  The length is perfect for me because it hits my kneecaps.  I want all four colors, but I haven’t bought it yet.  I plan on purchasing this skirt soon.

Volante Tee…$58.00

(Small) This top is as beautiful as it is online as it is in person.  I plan on buying this shirt too.  I love the bows on the side of the shirt and it is comfortable too.  This shirt comes in 3 different colors and I have all of them on my wish list.

Seaside Fields Dress…$138.00

(Size: 6) This dress is beautiful and very flattering.  I tried it on in a 6 and loved it.  This dress comes in two color ways – a Green motif and a Blue motif.  I have a pear shaped body and was worried that the dress would be too snug on my hips, but it wasn’t.  It was surprisingly flattering.  I definitely plan on purchasing this dress too.

Laced With Grace Dress…$168.00

(Size: 4) I’ve seen this dress in the catalog and on many other bloggers and I’ve loved the design.  I had to try it on for myself.  This dress is a silk sheer chiffon with a viscose lining.  I normally wouldn’t even look at this dress because of the color.  I thought the dress was cute, but I wish it was in a different color.  This is a pass for me.

Haramaki Tank…$48.00

(Small) I liked the design of this cotton shirt – the pleats are flattering.  The shirt very comfortable and it would make a great layering piece, but it’s nothing that special.  I’ve only seen it in two colors: Blue and Black.  This shirt is a pass for me, unless it comes in new colors.

Fitting Room Reviews: Sale Items

Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!!  I hope that you ladies are enjoying today’s sale and I hope that you had better luck than I did today.  There were so many great markdowns, but I have literally reached my limit this month.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get much today because my wallet needed a break and let’s really be honest…some of the items were sold out.   The only thing I got was the Wightwick Manor Dress and I’m happy with that.

Here are some fitting room reviews of a few items that I tried on last Friday, but I never had a chance to post.  In honor of today’s sale, here are some of the items that went on sale today.  I will post the rest of the reviews for the full price items tomorrow evening.

Let me know what you did today…did you cave in and buy more goodies?  Or did you sit this one out?

Peppered & Striped Skirt…$128 (now…$79.95)

(Size: 6) This skirt fits TTS and it’s a great color combination. I have been waiting for this skirt to get marked down for a long time.  It’s the perfect length for work and play.   I paired it with the Volante Tee and it makes a perfect statement.  Unfortunately, this skirt sold out before I could buy it.  I’m still hopeful it will show up on my wish list or appear in a store after the holidays.

Brass Band Sweater…$118.00 (now…$59.95)

(Size: Small)  I tried this sweater on in the small, and it fit perfectly.  I love this cardigan…it’s beautiful and cozy.  It is a perfect piece to layer over skinny jeans, dresses or skirts like this one.  This is one that I would buy now that it is on sale, but it is no longer available online.  I’m hoping that I could find it in the store later.

Wightwick Manor Dress…$128.00 (now $59.95)

(Size: 4) I love this dress and I have been waiting for this little number to get marked down for the longest time.  This dress it TTS and the soft corduroy makes it comfortable enough to wear all day.  The elegant print makes it appropriate for a night on the town.  It looks great with tights and boots or sexy heels.  I’m very happy today, because I was able to pick this one up at the store!  I called first thing this morning and put it hold.

Vapor Rise Dress…$158.00 (now $79.95)

(Size: Small) I love the look and the feel of this dress.  This is a nice option for work and then evening.  The top of the dress has chiffon pleats and the bottom has a stretchy merino wool skirt.  I thought that this dress looked great, but not on me.  I felt like the skirt made me look too curvy.  I’m going to pass on this one.

Jacinth Sweaterdress…$148.00 (now $69.95)

(Size: Small) This dress is a nice burnt orange color and it’s more orange than red in person.  The dress is comfortable and the skirt moves and drapes beautifully.   I love the chiffon detail around the neckline and skirt.  I think this would be a great dress to wear to work and later out in the evening.  Again…I hoped to grab this one today, but it was sold out in my size both online and in my store.

Fitting Room Reviews – Look Back and Phlox & Coral

I went to the Anthropologie store in the Mall of Millenia in Orlando, FL for the first time and I had a blast.  It's always fun to see how different each of the Anthro stores set up their merchandise and displays.  I only tried on a few things and I was able to snag the Culmination Blouse in a 4 (see here).  My store sold out of these really quickly.  Here are my reviews.

1. Look Back Sweater Dress…$138.00

I tried this dress on today in the store and absolutely fell in love with it.  The small fit me perfectly (for reference, I usually wear a size 4 or 6 dress and a size 6 skirt). I tried on the purple dress, which is a rich, deep color; the dress also comes in gray.   The material is high quality merino wool that is lightweight and allows for a beautiful drape.  This dress is form fitting like a sheath dress, but it is not extremely clingy.  The neck line is beautiful and the gathered fabric is just the right touch.   My favorite part of the dress is the deep v back and the exposed back zipper…it’s very flattering.   I didn’t try this dress on with a belt, but a belt would be a great accessory to add to change the look.  This dress would be perfect for my work wardrobe.  I’ll mostly buy this dress in the near future.

2. Phlox & Coral Coat…$288.00

I love, love, love this coat.  Tracey Reese has done it again…she designed a gorgeous piece of art. It is structured well and the fabric is very sturdy.  This coat couldn’t be used up North as a winter coat, but it’s perfect for me here in Florida.  The coral accents and lining is just as stunning as the buttons.  I tried this on in the 4 and the 6 and the 4 worked perfectly for me.   I have been eyeing this coat for sometime, and I hope to buy it when it gets marked down.   I’m just hoping that Anthro will have my size available when the time comes.

Anthropologie Review - Dresses

Happy Sunday ladies!  I hope that you all are having a great weekend.  I don’t know about you all, but I’m very happy that Anthro didn’t have a major sale last week.  I really have to start cutting back on my spending each month – it’s gotten a little out of control.  But, even though I’m glad there wasn’t a sale last week, I am looking forward to seeing what’s in store for us this week.

Here are my reviews of a few dresses that I tried on this past week.  Hopefully, one of these beauties will get marked down very soon!

1. Vestiges Dress $148.00
I love, love, love this dress.  I’ve been eyeing this one for some time now, but never got a chance to try it on.  This dress debuted sometime this summer, but it transitions perfectly into the fall season.  Another thing that I love about this dress is that it is totally work appropriate.  I work in a pretty conservative office and this one would pass my office’s strict dress code policy.  The colors in the top are bright and vibrant - orange, pink and brown - just perfect.  The dress has a belted waist that ties in with the navy bottom of the dress.  This dress fit me perfectly in the size 4.  I imagine that if you are bigger on top that you may have to go up a size in the dress.  I plan to buy this dress soon, before it’s sold out.

This is a classic and versatile shirtdress from Fei.  I was happy to find out that it is true to size.  This dress is pretty basic, but you can wear it with so many accessories (tights, boots, belt, heels, and a cute tank or top underneath).  I decided to add the Meridian Gate Belt with the dress.  The red belt was a great contrast to the navy corduroy fabric.  The material in this dress is just right - so you can wear it on a cool fall day and well into the winter season.  I plan to buy this dress as soon as it gets marked down.  I just can’t pay the full price.

3. Lucerna Dress $128.00
Ladies it’s time to put your little black dress on hold for the season and pick up this little red dress.  I initially went up a size and tried on a medium in this dress.  I was afraid that the small would be too clingy, but the small worked out just perfect for me.  The lightweight jersey material is heavy enough to hide any bulges or undergarment lines.  The red color really works for the fall season.  You can dress this dress up or down and this would be great with heels or some sexy boots.

4. Snowy Egret Shift $168.00
I didn’t know if I would like this dress when I first saw it.  The model looked great in it in the catalog and the print of the dress is gorgeous.  I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this dress on.  I really liked it.  The pattern is so beautiful and unique and cut of the dress is different, but it works for some people.  The obi belt is in a muted orange color that holds well when it’s tied.  The bottom half of the dress is a little narrow.  I tried on a size 4 and it was a little snug around my hips, but a 6 would have been too big on the top.  I figure that I could put on some spanx and that may solve the hip issue.  This may be a pass for me.

I was pretty sad after I tried on this dress.  I really liked it on the hanger and it even fit me well, except for the length.  I like to find dresses that I can wear to work and then other events for the evenings or weekends.  This dress, however, wouldn’t work for me in my office.  Here in the picture, you can see where the skirt falls on me – it’s a little too short.  This will be a great dress for someone that is a little shorter than me or who has shorter legs.   This is a great dress for the fall – the colors are perfect.  I may consider buying this one to wear with some tights and boots on the weekends.  The skirt of this dress is made of wool, so beware if you have sensitive skin.

I was instantly drawn to this dress because of the ruffles and the plaid pattern.  This would be a great dress for work, church, dinner…just about anything.  The fabric is a little itchy, but it didn’t bother me that much.  The dress comes with a skinny belt, which I think goes perfect with it.  Unfortunately, this dress was also narrow around the hips.  I felt a little self conscious in it because it hugged my hips too much.  The top fit just right, but if I went up as size, the top would be too big.  This dress would be great on a petite sized woman.  This one is going to be a pass for me.
