miscellany monday

busy, busy, busy.  this has been my theme phrase for the past several days.  this past week was super busy for me and it looks like this week is going to be about the same.  here is a recap of my weekend events.

{one - thursday} fashion show.  i went to my first professional fashion show last thursday called runway to dignity 2011.  and it was fabulous.  my boss had 2 tickets to the event, but was unable to attend.  so, she asked me and one of my co-workers if we would like to go in her place.  i couldn’t say yes fast enough.  we left work a little early to head to jacksonville for the event.   the fashion show took place outside under the stars with a clear tent overlooking the st. johns river.  it was beautiful.  neiman marcus of orlando provided the clothing for the runway to dignity 2011 fashion show to benefit dignity u wear. the upscale retailer featured spring fashions by some of today’s most notable designers, including escada, dolce gabbana, and roberto cavalli.

{two - friday} jazz’d.  after work on friday, i went to savannah, ga to visit my bf and to attend a baby shower for one of my former classmates.  the bf and i went to jazz’d tapas bar located on 52 barnard st. in savannah, ga.  i’ve gone to jazz’d for drinks only, but never for the tapas.  finally, i had to opportunity to eat some of the restaurant’s amazing tapas for the first time and boy were they delicious.  my three favorites were the southern crab cakes, coconut shrimp and shrimp fritters.  if you are ever in savannah, check out jazz’d (here).

{three - saturday} baby shower and birthday party.  i have a huge problem.  sometimes i double book myself with in the same day (i’ve also been known to triple book myself).  for example, on saturday i had a baby shower to attend at 3pm and a birthday dinner for one of my best friends in jacksonville, fl at 6pm.  crazy…i know.  the cities are 2 hours apart, so naturally i thought i shouldn’t have a problem…right? i thought that i could make both of these events.  of course there was a problem – a huge problem.  my friend’s shower got pushed back and was scheduled to start at 4:30pm; however, my friend never showed up because she had to take her husband to the emergency room.  so the shower never happened.  i was a little frustrated because my day was pushed back a couple of hours and i thought i was super late for the dinner.  however, luckily for me by the time i arrived in Jacksonville, my friends were just being served their food.

{four - sunday} stampin’ up.  have you heard about stampin’ up?  i posted about this crafting hobby a few weeks ago after i attended a friend’s party.  somehow during this party,  i was talked into hosting my own party, so i hosted it on sunday.  i ran around like a chicken with my head cut off yesterday morning trying to pick up food to make baked ziti for lunch.  in addition to cooking the lunch, i also had to clean my apartment.  yikes…I was exhausted by the end of the day.  i had 7 ladies come over for lunch and the stampin’ up fun.  we made two lovely cards that i’m sure to use both of them within the next couple of months.  check out the website for more information about stampin’ up (here).

{five - monday} taxes. have you filed you taxes yet?  i just e-filed mine a few hours ago.  what a way to wait until the last minute – eh?  i always seem to do that.  don’t forget to file your income taxes – the deadline this year it april 18th.

Fresh Picks to Follow: Blushing Nudes

This past week and weekend was super busy.  I haven’t been online that much either.  So I apologize for my late post.  Anyways, here is a quick Fresh Pick to Follow for this past Friday.  Nude is the new neutral and the new black this spring.  Designers have shown that nude tones are versatile in all types of clothing this season. For instance, Donna Karan, Steve Madden, and Bibhu Mohapatra have created flesh tone clothing with rich textures, pleats and cutouts. The nude color varies from a warm pale cream, to barely-there beige, to almond and dusky pinks.  Check out my top 10 favorite picks of this flesh toned trend.  What do you think about this trend? Let me know.

miscellany monday

happy monday everyone – i’ve added my random ramblings to carissa’s miscellany monday party!  check out carissa’s blog here and join in on the fun.

{one} bulldogs or huskies?  i'm currently watching butler and uconn play in the ncaa tournament national championship game.  it’s been a crazy tournament so far, filled with major upsets and nail biting buzzer beaters.  these two unlikely teams are sure to provide a great showdown tonight.  What team are you rooting for?  although, butler beat out my favorite team, florida, i’m still rooting for them in tonight’s championship.  i like rooting for the little guy.  go bulldogs!

{two} nutella®.  a huge fan of nutella.  right now i’m eating a slice of breakfast bread with a little nutella spread on top of it.  what is nutella you ask? nutella is a yummy spread that contains hazelnut, skim milk and a hint of cocoa.  it’s delicious.  i usually just spread of little bit of it on a slice of bread for breakfast or a late night snack.  it’s also really good on waffles.  if you want to learn more about nutella, check out the website here.

{three} taxes. have you filed you taxes yet?  i haven’t.  i always seem to wait until the last minute to do it.  And there is no particular reason for it…it really just slips my mind.  i usually end up doing my own taxes with the help of turbo tax, so i have no excuse to procrastinate.  i’m going to try to start working on it tonight along with working on my bf’s taxes.  hopefully, i'll get one of them done tonight.

{four} spinning.  i learned about spinning a several years ago while working out at a gym in fort lauderdale.  i went to one class and i’ve been hooked ever since them.  i even took a few classes while i was on a cruise a couple years ago.  the spinning program is the global leader in indoor cycling training.  the workout is vigorous and you burn a ton of calories.  i always leave the class covered in sweat.  there are spinning classes and instructors all around the country.  if you are interested learning more about spinning or if you like to attend a free spinning class, check out the website here.

OOTD: First Whispering Dress

I bought this dress at the beginning of last month when it popped back up in my Anthro Wish List.  Don’t you love pop backs?  I wanted this dress after seeing it on Kim (here) and Maria (here).  I had my hands on this dress in January, but when I went to the register I noticed that the dress had holes and was tearing at the bust/waist seam.  I was so upset because the dress was no where to be found until the pop back.  I love the earthy look to this dress.  This delicate dress made by Sunner is 100% silk and feels soft against my skin.  The weather dropped a little bit a few days ago, so I thought I would get one good wear out of this dress before the weather completely warms up.  Are you guys waiting for anything to pop back on your wish list?  I have a few items that I’m still waiting on like the Bianka Blouse, Discovered Lace Dress, and Phlox & Coral Coat.

Necklace: Ann Taylor Loft Necklace (gifted)
Earrings: Anthropologie Buttercup Posts
Dress: Anthropologie First Whispering Dress
Belt: Looping Lanes Belt
Boots: Nine West Leather Boots (old)
