OOTD: My Favorite Backlight

I forgot to post this picture from this past weekend.  As I mentioned in my previous post, I went to a baby shower and birthday dinner on Saturday and I wore this outfit.    I bought this top last fall, but I didn’t have a chance to wear it until now since the weather has changed.  I’m so glad that I was able to buy it on sale.  I remember that as soon as it went on sale, I called my local Anthro store at 8:00am and asked the SA to put it on hold for me.  When the SA told me it was the last one in my size, I was super excited that I decided to call.  I just hoped that it would still be there when I got off work.  And obviously it was there.  On a side note, aren’t the Anthro sales associates the best? The sales associates at my local Anthro are always so cheerful and helpful.  They address me by my name, which may say a lot about how much I shop there; and I always feel like it’s a pleasure to shop in any Anthro store.

miscellany monday

busy, busy, busy.  this has been my theme phrase for the past several days.  this past week was super busy for me and it looks like this week is going to be about the same.  here is a recap of my weekend events.

{one - thursday} fashion show.  i went to my first professional fashion show last thursday called runway to dignity 2011.  and it was fabulous.  my boss had 2 tickets to the event, but was unable to attend.  so, she asked me and one of my co-workers if we would like to go in her place.  i couldn’t say yes fast enough.  we left work a little early to head to jacksonville for the event.   the fashion show took place outside under the stars with a clear tent overlooking the st. johns river.  it was beautiful.  neiman marcus of orlando provided the clothing for the runway to dignity 2011 fashion show to benefit dignity u wear. the upscale retailer featured spring fashions by some of today’s most notable designers, including escada, dolce gabbana, and roberto cavalli.

{two - friday} jazz’d.  after work on friday, i went to savannah, ga to visit my bf and to attend a baby shower for one of my former classmates.  the bf and i went to jazz’d tapas bar located on 52 barnard st. in savannah, ga.  i’ve gone to jazz’d for drinks only, but never for the tapas.  finally, i had to opportunity to eat some of the restaurant’s amazing tapas for the first time and boy were they delicious.  my three favorites were the southern crab cakes, coconut shrimp and shrimp fritters.  if you are ever in savannah, check out jazz’d (here).

{three - saturday} baby shower and birthday party.  i have a huge problem.  sometimes i double book myself with in the same day (i’ve also been known to triple book myself).  for example, on saturday i had a baby shower to attend at 3pm and a birthday dinner for one of my best friends in jacksonville, fl at 6pm.  crazy…i know.  the cities are 2 hours apart, so naturally i thought i shouldn’t have a problem…right? i thought that i could make both of these events.  of course there was a problem – a huge problem.  my friend’s shower got pushed back and was scheduled to start at 4:30pm; however, my friend never showed up because she had to take her husband to the emergency room.  so the shower never happened.  i was a little frustrated because my day was pushed back a couple of hours and i thought i was super late for the dinner.  however, luckily for me by the time i arrived in Jacksonville, my friends were just being served their food.

{four - sunday} stampin’ up.  have you heard about stampin’ up?  i posted about this crafting hobby a few weeks ago after i attended a friend’s party.  somehow during this party,  i was talked into hosting my own party, so i hosted it on sunday.  i ran around like a chicken with my head cut off yesterday morning trying to pick up food to make baked ziti for lunch.  in addition to cooking the lunch, i also had to clean my apartment.  yikes…I was exhausted by the end of the day.  i had 7 ladies come over for lunch and the stampin’ up fun.  we made two lovely cards that i’m sure to use both of them within the next couple of months.  check out the website for more information about stampin’ up (here).

{five - monday} taxes. have you filed you taxes yet?  i just e-filed mine a few hours ago.  what a way to wait until the last minute – eh?  i always seem to do that.  don’t forget to file your income taxes – the deadline this year it april 18th.

i’ve added my random ramblings to carissa’s miscellany monday party!  check out carissa’s blog here and join in on the fun.

Fresh Picks to Follow: Blushing Nudes

This past week and weekend was super busy.  I haven’t been online that much either.  So I apologize for my late post.  Anyways, here is a quick Fresh Pick to Follow for this past Friday.  Nude is the new neutral and the new black this spring.  Designers have shown that nude tones are versatile in all types of clothing this season. For instance, Donna Karan, Steve Madden, and Bibhu Mohapatra have created flesh tone clothing with rich textures, pleats and cutouts. The nude color varies from a warm pale cream, to barely-there beige, to almond and dusky pinks.  Check out my top 10 favorite picks of this flesh toned trend.  What do you think about this trend? Let me know.
