Moody Style: Merci, Merci, Merci

Don’t forget to enter my Holiday Giveaway (here)!

I’m pretty happy that I grabbed this t-shirt from J.Crew on Cyber Monday.  I love that it’s so versatile.  You can layer it with a button-down shirt underneath or throw a blazer over it to dress it up a little bit or just wear it by itself.  This past Sunday was filled with running errands, Christmas shopping, a baby shower and a cookie exchange.  So I had to come up with an outfit that worked for the entire day.  I think that this shirt helped to complete the look.  I can’t wait to come up with more looks with this little tee.   So I want to say a quick merci to the peeps at J.Crew for continuing to create amazing must-have pieces.  I can't wait to see what you have in store for us in 2014.  Did you score any amazing deals on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?  What was your favorite purchase?  Let me know in the comments.

Moody Style: End of Summer?

Is it feeling like the end of summer to any of you ladies?  Saturday marks the official first day of autumn and it’s still pretty warm here in my neck of the woods.  As many of you know, I live in Florida where it’s extremely warm about 85% of the time.  I’m actually looking forward to the change in seasons and some cooler fall weather.  However, we don’t usually see any hint of autumn until the end of October.  I guess in the meantime I’ll just have to enjoy my extended summer until then.  Are any of you seeing signs of autumn in your hometowns?  If so, what do you miss about the summer season?  I'd love to hear all about it in the comments.

Moody Style: Work Style

Hi everyone…I hope that you all are having a great week.  I don’t have much to say right now, I just took a quick break from work tonight to post this.  I wore one of my favorite skirts to work today and I paired it with a funky and stylish blazer from Coach.  So far everyday this week I’ve been wearing my traditional suits to the office, but today I wanted a little something different.  I love this accordion skirt, but I wish I paid a little more attention to the weather this morning.  As soon as I walked out of my building today, the wind picked up more than normal.  It was so windy that I almost had a couple of Marilyn Monroe moments without the NYC subway vents.  I walked to lunch and to my car literally tugging my skirt down just to keep it from flying up.  And of course this was the day that I didn’t wear a slip underneath.  Has this ever happened to you?  Let me know.

Moody Style: Leap for Joy

Happy Leap Year everyone! Did any of you do anything fabulous today in honor of the leap year? I learned from my coworker that Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom Park will be open for 24 hours starting today at 6:00am.  How cool is that?  I wish I knew about that and could afford to go down to Orlando for the day.  I also learned that several retailers were offering a 29% off discount in honor of leap year.  I’m trying to be good and slow down my shopping, so I didn’t look into it. Did any of you hear of any other leap year deals?

So I have been thinking about all of the upcoming fashion trends for the spring and summer and I thought I should check out Forever 21.  Do any of you shop at this store? I went into the store a couple weeks ago and I fell in love with a ton of bright and colorful pieces.  Unfortunately, not all of them worked for me.  I went into the dressing room twice with about 6 items during each trip only to find about two things that actually fit my body. Is it just me or does anybody else have problems with their sizing?  What I learned from my trip is that it’s pretty clear that not every style of clothing fits the same.  I tried on several dresses and they all ranged from size small to large depending on the fit. Don’t expect to walk in and wear the same size that you would wear in other retailers – you will be disappointed.  You truly have to try everything on to find something that works best for your body type.   Despite my trouble with their sizes, I still plan to go back to find some more trendy pieces and accessories.  I’ll be sure to let you know how I do on the next trip.  Check out one of my finds in the picture below.  Let me know what you think.
