Fresh Picks to Follow – Bow Tie Blouse

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend planned.  I have a 5k race in the morning, so I’m going to call it night pretty early.  But first I wanted to touch base with my readers.  I’ve been posting my Fresh Picks to Follow for a little over a year now and sometimes I get stumped with the weekly posts.  I struggle to find the right topic or trend for the week.  So, I wanted to reach out to all of you to see if you had any suggestions or comments for any upcoming posts.  If so, please comment below or send me an email at moodygirlinstyle@yahoo.com.

Anyways, here’s my Friday Fresh Picks to Follow. I’m not sure about you all, but I’m a huge fan of the bow-tie blouse.  I’ve been drawn to them for several months, but I haven’t bought any lately.  I’m kind of surprised that I don’t have a ton of them in my closet right now. Of course like any trend they come and go, but I anticipate that this trend will be around for a few more years. The bow tie blouse is a play on menswear apparel with a hint of femininity and style. This blouse is so chic because it can be worn with just about anything from a sleek pencil skirt or a pair of wide-leg trousers to a pair of skinny jeans or cut-off shorts.  This top will also look great on all body types and it’s appropriate for all age groups.  Go out and grab yourself this blouse and create a bow to tie up the perfect look for spring.  Check out my top 10 bow-tie blouses for this week’s Fresh Picks to Follow.  Do any of you have some bow tie blouses in your closet?  Are any of you loving this trend? Let me know!

June Wish List – Top 3

Here are my top 3 items from Anthropologie for the month of June.  I love that the name of one of my favorite dresses is called Lila Frock.   When I was younger, my mother and my aunts always referred to dresses as frocks.  As a child, I just I didn’t understand it.  I never heard any of my friends ever refer to a dress as a frock nor did I do it.  It's almost similar to the term ‘pocketbook’ being used instead of purse.  I also grew up hearing pocketbooks as well so much that I sometimes say pocketbooks every now and then.  I haven’t seen the Lila Frock in person yet, but I plan to try it on as soon as possible.  My next favorite top is the Leaf Filigree Tank…I really love the coral color.  The neckline is also exquisite and embroidered cut out leaves really adds a feminine touch.  And last but not least is the Nautical Dreaming Chemise; I tried it on the other day and fell in love.  The chemise is a light-weight, jersey knit dress with a slight A-line bottom.  This chemise is perfect because it could be worn as loungewear and it could be dressed up with a lovely belt, like the Junctions Belt.  This one is definitely coming home with me this month.  What are your must have items this month?  Let me know!

Don’t forget that Anthropologie is offering complimentary standard shipping for Anthro members only.  To take advantage of this offer, you have to link your Anthro ID number to a new or existing Anthropologie.com account.  The free shipping perk applies to all orders over $150.00 and this offer expires on July 15, 2011.  If you are interested in setting up an Anthro ID number, you can set it up here.

miscellany monday

happy monday everyone – i’ve added my random ramblings to carissa’s miscellany monday party!  check out carissa’s blog here and join in on the fun.

{one} anthropologie tag sale.  i went to my local anthro store tonight and they were in full swing: moving fixtures around the store and marking items down.   i only saw a handful of items that i recognized, so i can’t write out a list of them.  i’m so excited about this sale…i can’t wait to see everything that got marked down.  and i really hope that they plan to add free shipping and an additional discount.  i guess we’ll find out in the morning.  according to an email that i received from anthro, some stores plan to open early for anthro card holders only.  here are a list of stores (here) that will open early for the big sale.  unfortunately, i won’t be able to make it to the store tomorrow.  i’m hoping that the items i put on hold will still be there by wednesday.  i’m keeping my fingers crossed!  let me know what you hope to buy at the sale.

{two} gossip girl.  did you watch the season finale of gossip girl?  what did you think?  i’ve always held a torch for blair and chuck.  i love the back and forth they go through and i’m always rooting for them.  do you think that they will ever get back together?  we’ll see next season.

{three} running shoes.  i finally bought a new pair of running sneakers.  i went to my local running store and got my feet fitted for some new shoes.  the shoe-fitting specialist performed a series of measurements and tests including video taping me run on the treadmill to figure out what shoe would be best for me.  the specialist told me that running shoes are classified into several shoe types: cushion, stability and motion control.  i’m glad that i went because my old sneakers were doing more damage than good.  it turns out that i needed a shoe that provides stability for my ankles.  who knew?  i ended up purchasing a pair of asics gt-2160 and they feel amazing.  i can’t wait to try them out in my next race.

{four} never quit beach fest.  i’m so excited about this weekend.  i signed up for the never quit beach fest in jacksonville, fl on may 21.  i signed up to run in the 5k run on the beach.  it sounds like it’s going to be a great event.  i’ll write up a race recap when the race is over to let you know how it went.  for more information about the never quit fest, check out the website (here).

{one} japan.  my thoughts and prayers go out to the people of japan as they recover from this devastating tragedy.  a disaster like this truly makes you appreciate everything that you have in your life.   i recently made a donation to the red cross because it’s so important that we do all we can to help out.  i wish i could do more.  those who are interested in contributing to the relief efforts for the japan earthquake and pacific tsunami, can donate online here to the red cross. People can also text “redcross” to 90999 to make a $10 donation to help those affected by this disaster.

{two} running.  i ran my 15k this past saturday and i will post more about it later.  i had a lot of fun during the gate river run and i’m already thinking about the next race.  if you know of any cool races in florida, please let me know.

{three} the bachelor. so today is the finale of the bachelor.  i can’t wait to see who brad is going to pick tonight.  i would like to see him with chantel o, but i think that he’s going to end up with emily.  we’ll see if i’m right.  tune into abc at 8pm tonight for the bachelor conclusion.

{four} decorate anthropologie style. do you wish you could live in an anthropologie store? now you can.  anthro is opening a new decorator concept that will focus on products such as curtains, furniture, hardware, lighting, rugs and wallpaper. the new concept will debut on march 24, 2011 in 12 of the company’s existing locations.  also, check out the website on march 17th for the new launch of the “for the decorator” section.  i can’t to see what they have in store.

What’s in the Stars for You? Aquarius!

I came home tonight to a lovely surprise in my mailbox.  When I saw the envelope, I knew exactly what was in it and I ran into my apartment to open it up.  And ladies I was right. It’s my birthday gift from Anthropologie for my upcoming birthday celebration.  The birthday discount comes with the usual 15% off your total store purchase.  I’m so excited and I’ve already planned out my purchases.

On another note…do you ladies have an Anthro card? If you don't have an Anthro card, I suggest that you sign up today! It's free and it only takes a few seconds to sign up. What are the benefits?  Well first of all, the Anthro card is not a credit card, but it’s similar to a rewards card.  You can make in-store returns and price adjustments without a receipt.  It also allows you to provide Anthro with feedback on their merchandise and it allows Anthro to communicate with you regarding any in-store events.  You have an opportunity to take advantage of the occasional Anthro-member surprises like the birthday discount and free shipping for online purchases.

To sign up for an Anthro card and please check out Anthropologie’s website (here)
