Mood Board – Living Room Inspiration

Sorry I’ve been a little MIA lately, between work, Hurricane Matthew and a family wedding I’ve been extremely busy this month so far.  Anyways, do you all have a Pinterest account?  I’ve been obsessed with the site lately and I’m constantly pinning some amazing home decor finds, fashion inspiration and healthy recipes.  If you haven’t had a chance to check out my Moody Girl In Style Pinterest page yet, please consider checking it.  I’m pretty sure you’ll find a few things that you’ll want to pin.

Now on to this fun post.  I’m currently looking to buy a new place and I’ve been obsessed with surfing the internet for home decor inspiration especially with my living room.  My living room furniture right now is so old and it's just not my style.  My living room set was just something I purchased when I got out of school for the right price at the right time.  If I had it my way I would have gotten rid of it a long time ago.  Since I dislike my furniture so much, I’m determined to move into my new home with new furniture and a fresh, timeless style. So far, I’ve decided that the color palette of my living room will be cream, gold, blue, gray and espresso brown.  It’s a pretty neutral color combination, so I can add in another pop of color if I get bored.

I’m most looking forward to updating my hand-me-down tan couch to this one from Overstock.com or this one from Pottery Barn.  I haven't fully decided yet on which couch I'll get.  I’ll probably continue to search online for the right one, but I know for sure that it will be a gray couch.  I also really love the idea of this coffee table from World Market and I think this plush geometric rug will add an eye-catching element to the room instead my drab tan carpet.  I’m also obsessed with this chair from Overstock.com, - the blue color is just the perfect fit.

Well, check out my favorite pieces below for my new potential living room.  What do you guys think about my picks? Let me know if you have any other furniture suggestions for this room or if you have any favorites from the post. I'm also thinking about doing more of these home decor boards, so let me know if this is something that you would like to see more of on the blog.

In the Mood – Currently Loving

I finally put together a quick list of some things I’ve had my eye on this month. Sorry for another last day of the month post, but I’ve been pretty busy lately.  Well check out some of my must-haves for the month and let me know what you think.  And just so you know, everything listed below is under $100.  Have a happy weekend friends!

Moody Style: Fall Florals

Happy Hump Day Friends! Are you all loving the floral prints that have been popping up everywhere this fall?  I normally think of florals in the spring and even summer season, but I have to admit that I’m a little obsessed with the darker, moody blooms.  I love that these florals prints are flourishing in rich jewel-toned colors like burgundy, burnt orange, royal blue, purple, forest green and they are all set against a darker or sometimes black background.  I think these florals are just the right touch for the fall season.  And you don’t have to break the bank to keep up with this trend.  Check your closet to see if you have any floral pieces that can work double duty with your existing wardrobe. Keep your outfit limited to one floral piece and start simple by pairing it with a neutral.

If you don’t have any fall florals, then there are several ways to incorporate these blooms into your closet. A floral dress is a perfect way to pull off the fall floral look.  Pair a shorter dress like this one with some booties and a hat or pair a longer dress like this one with a denim jacket and some lace-up flats or heels and you’re all set. Another way to try the trend is wearing floral pants like this one and this one.  Since the pants are already a fashion statement, keep it simple by pairing it with a solid sweater or t-shirt for a complete look.  And finally, a floral jacket, like this one, can immediately add life to your look. Just add it to a t-shirt and pair of jeans or your favorite LBD and you’re ready for a night out.  What do you guys think about fall florals? Do you love it or do you only want to wear florals in the spring?
