Moody Mondays: Old Navy vs. J.Crew Factory

I went into Old Navy earlier today just to check out some of the new arrivals I saw online, but I ended up walking out with a few things.  Have you all been in Old Navy lately?  I have to say, I was pretty surprised to see a handful of J. Crew Factory look-a-likes throughout the women’s section of the store.  Anyways, I put together a quick list with a few of the similarities that I noticed today.  There’s a slight price difference between the two stores.  So, if you are looking to save a little money, then Old Navy will be your best bet.

miscellany monday

happy monday ladies – i’ve added my random ramblings to carissa’s miscellany monday party!  check out carissa’s blog here and join in on the fun.

{one} holiday cards. i didn’t follow through with my holiday cards this past week.  i used to be really good about sending these out early.  i’m still going to try to get them out by the end of the week.

{two} first christmas party. last friday i had my first christmas party for my office.  we decided not to do secret santa, but have a gift exchange.  every that wants to participate must bring a $5.00 dvd of a movie.  i ended up with the movie that i brought after lots of trading.  the movie that i brought was a james bond movie – “die another day” starring pierce brosnan and halle berry…it’s one of my favorite bond movies.   i didn’t own this one, so i wanted to get it back.  i originally got the simpsons christmas movie.  i was more than happy to trade that movie…i’m not a big fan of the simpsons.    just a little side note:  “die another day” is the 20th movie in the james bond series and the last movie to star pierce brosnan as james bond.

{three} christmas shopping.  i’m almost finished with my christmas shopping.  i bought a lot on saturday and i only have 3 more presents to buy.  i even managed to get some candy to give out to my co-workers later this week.  i felt like i accomplished a lot.

{four} knitting.  i’m currently making a baby blanket for my cousin who had her first daughter a couple of weeks ago.  you guys might remember i went to her baby shower in october.  i’m hoping to finish the blanket by the end of the year.  i’m also making my sister a chunky ribbed scarf for christmas.  i’ve been promising her a scarf for a few years and i never had time.  so, this is her year.  i’ll post some pictures when i complete my projects.

{one} oh christmas tree. i decided not to put up a tree this year, but i plan to put some lights and little decorations around my apartment.

{two} first christmas party. my first christmas party is this friday for my job.  we decided not to do secret santa, but have a gift exchange.  every that wants to participate must bring a $5.00 dvd of a movie.  i thought that was a cool…i’ll have to let you know what movie i end up with on friday.

{three} holiday cards. so, i usually have a lot of plans for my days and nights, and i have to make lists and prioritize.  one thing that is on my list that i really want to follow through with is sending out my holiday cards.  i’ve given myself a deadline of a week, so i can mail them out next monday.   hopefully, that will work out.

{one}time change. i don’t know about you guys, but i’m happy to have gained an extra hour of sleep.  i’m not loving the fact that it’s pitch black outside at 6pm, but i love my sleep.

{twomonday night football.  anyone that knows me knows that i love football.  i look forward to football season and i’m always pretty sad to see the season end.  i prefer college football over nfl, but i watch it and enjoy it all.  the florida gators are my favorite college team and philadelphia eagles and green bay are my favorite nfl teams.  and since i live in florida i usually root   i usually work on the weekends, so i can’t always catch the games.  however, i’m always able to catch some monday night football.  who’s playing tonight? its steelers vs. bengals….i’m pretty sure that the steelers will take it home, but you never know.  i usually root for the underdog when it’s not my team…so it will be interesting if bengals pull out a win tonight.

{threeanthropologie sale.  so…i wonder if anthro is going to have a sale tomorrow now that there is free shipping.  i’ve already taken advantage this offer one time so far…i’m sure that there will be more shipments to come.  yikes!

{fourveterans day.  if you are like me, you may know someone who is currently serving or who has previously served in the military.  in september, my brother-in-law left for afghanistan for 1 year, leaving my sister, my 2 nieces and nephew waiting patiently for his return.  it was so hard to see the little ones so sad and confused.  i was just telling my boyfriend, that we should do so much more to show our appreciation for our troops.  with that being said, i wanted to share some information regarding amazing discounts and freebies for our troops:

  1. applebees  all veterans and active duty military eat free from a limited menu at applebee's on nov. 11. simply show proof of service or arrive wearing a uniform.

{one}halloween. i hope that everyone had a happy halloween yesterday.  i didn’t dress up yesterday but i dress up for a party on saturday.  did you guys dress up?  if so, describe your costume.  i was a tiger…well a lazy tiger.  i say lazy tiger because i wore all black and put on some tiger ears and a tiger tail.  i drew on some whiskers on my face and heavy eye make-up.  i thought i looked pretty cute.  i had to work yesterday so i missed all of the little trick or treaters L i really would have liked to  see some of the kids’ great costumes.

{twothe holidays already?  i was in target on friday looking for a halloween costume and i noticed that some christmas decorations are already up.  i was so focused on halloween - it was kind of weird to see a few christmas trees and various trimmings.  i can’t wait until the holiday season starts – i actually love it.  however, i do work retail so the holiday hours are not fun

{threegossip girl.  i don’t know what it is about this show, but it’s one of my favorite shows out there right now.  are there any other gossip fans out there?  let me know your favorite episode and who’s your favorite character.  my favorite episode is “last tango, then paris" and i really like blair.  even though some may say that blair is a little annoying and even pretentious,  she has a lot of style and spunk.   today’s episode was pretty predictable – of course we all knew they would get back eventually.

{fourfeatured artist: robyn.  if you watched gossip girl, then you heard robyn’s song…“hang with me.”  what did you think? if you didn’t watch the show, then  check out her video here it’s a pretty good song….i love it when tv shows feature new artists.  she also sings “dancing on my own”…which is also another good song.  some of you may remember this swedish artist when she sang “show me love” in the early 90s.

{fivenew camera.  i really want to buy a new camera…either a nikon d3000 or a canon rebel eos.  i just have to save up a little bit more money to buy one of these lovelies.  i’m hoping to get one of them over the holidays, but that means i’ll have to slow down my shopping sprees at anthropologie.  i also have to do some research about both of these cameras – which one is the better camera?  once i do my research, i’ll share with you all.
{sixanthropologie sale.  so even though i just previously wrote that i needed to slow down with my anthro shopping, i’m curious to see what’s going to be on sale tomorrow.  i’m limiting myself to only one item tomorrow….let’s see how that goes.

miscellany monday

{one} computer virus.  my computer crashed last monday and i didn’t have access to it for the whole week.  it is the worst feeling in the world when you realize that you have lost everything….pictures, documents, and tons of music.  so here’s what happened.  i was surfing the net and a window popped up that said that my system had a virus.  it said that if i wanted to get rid of the virus then download the spyware software.  the pop up looked like it was from microsoft, but it wasn’t…it was some kind of malware. as soon as i hit the button, my whole system was corrupted and my computer wouldn’t even start up. i didn’t think that my computer would ever work again, but the great people at dell helped me out.  the dell technicians helped me reimage my computer and i’m back in business.  i wish i had recovered my old documents, but I’m happy I have a computer again.

{two} i heart my family.  i have the best family ever.  i'm so grateful that my father’s side of the family found me and my sisters almost 4 years ago.  it’s pretty amazing how close we are now in such a short time period…i can’t imagine my life without any of them.

{three} foolishness.  the older that i get, the more i realize that i don’t have time for foolishness.  i that pretty much sums it up.

{four} cooking. i love to cook, but i’ve been feeling very lazy lately.  i told myself that i would post some of my favorite recipes, but i haven’t done it yet.  so next week i will try to post at least one tasty treat.

{five} shopping addiction.  i have a major shopping addiction and lately it has been out of control.  my vice? one word - anthropologie.  i love everything about this store…the clothes, the accessories, the home goods.  i’m going to start limiting how many times i can go into the store within a week and then within a month.
