Moody Style: Past Due

Some of you are probably wondering what the heck is going on with Moody Girl, she hardly updates her blog and she hasn’t posted an OOTD in ages.   And some of you may be thinking that I can totally relate to Moody Girl right now.  It’s been no secret that I have a crazy work schedule and have very little personal time left over in a day.  Well have no fear; I have several outfit photos lined up for you all for the month of August.  I know finally right? It’s been way overdue.  Lately, I’ve been having a hard time trying to figure out the best times to write and post.  I mentioned in the past that I wear suits for my pretty conservative job, so the opportunity for creativity is pretty seldom until the evenings and weekends.  But I’m done making excuses for myself, so I’m just going to do it.

I used to create a to-do list for myself each day while I was in undergrad and graduate school and it proved to do me justice.  I was able to get so much accomplished.  I’m even successful with getting all of my projects completed by the deadlines at my job because of these to-do lists. For some reason I’ve strayed away from this practice in my personal life, but I recently added it back to my daily routine.  Hopefully, this will help avoid my blog from being dormant for days and weeks at a time.  Do any of you have any helpful tips to ensure that you tackle all of your daily tasks or projects?  If you have a blog, I would love to hear how you juggle everyday life and your blog.  Let me know in the comments.

Feeling Frumpy?

I just came back from a quick work trip to Miami and I definitely didn’t want to leave.  Especially since I had to work about 80% of my time there and the weather is getting cooler by the hour.  I was able to take out time some time to go for a run on the beach and eat dinner at some amazing restaurants.  I always enjoy my time in Miami because of the beach, the weather and all of the wonderful people watching that I get to do.  One of the things that I noticed every time I go to Miami is all of the fashionable locals.  You can definitely spot them out in the crowd versus the every day tourist.  On my last night in the city, I went out to dinner at Nobu, a Japanese cuisine restaurant, on Collins Avenue.  They had the most amazing sushi I’ve ever had in my life – but that’s a whole other story for another day. I just wore a pair of jeans and a polka dot short-sleeve sweater from Old Navy (as seen here) and a pair of black heels.  I was pretty happy with my ensemble until I got to the restaurant. While I waited for my food, I noticed that most of the women in the restaurant were wearing either a dress or leggings/skinny jeans and some type a slinky tank top. Each woman looked like they were ready for a night out at a trendy new nightclub on a Tuesday night.  Maybe, I’m showing my age, but I definitely felt frumpy that night.  Even though I packed a variety of clothes for my trip, I felt like I picked out the wrong outfit.  So the next day, I wore an outfit that I thought would have been perfect for my previous night out on the town.  Unfortunately, no one really saw my outfit since I was leaving.  Do any of you buy new clothing to adapt to the area that you are visiting when it comes to style/fashion? Or do you wear clothing that makes you comfortable?  Let me know in the comments.

Moody Style: Leopard and Stripes

This past weekend, my BF and I took a quick road trip to Charlotte, NC and we had a blast. I’m all ready looking forward for my return trip back to the Queen City.  I originally planned a trip to Charlotte to visit my old roommate from college, but we ended up meeting up with a handful more people than expected which was a great surprise.  My BF and I didn’t realize how many people that we both knew that lives in the city.  We didn’t do too much site seeing or activities, because we hung out at the house mostly.  We ended up going out to eat only a couple of times and we had some amazing soul food from Mert’s on Saturday night. I didn’t end up taking any pictures of my time in Charlotte.  I’m not sure what happened to me this trip I’m usually pretty good about taking some snapshots, but I forgot.

Anyways, I wanted to share a picture of one of my outfits from last week.  I wore this dress during the day that I left for my trip.  I was lucky to grab this dress while I was shopping in San Fran a couple months ago because it’s been sold out for a long time.  I was super excited to find it.  Have you found any hard to find pieces in the store lately? Let me know in the comments.
