I almost
forgot to post my top 3 favorite items from Anthropologie for December. I have to admit that I’m not doing any
shopping for myself this month because all of the presents I have yet to buy
for the upcoming holidays. I’ve been
pretty good to myself all year long, so I’m okay with taking one month off from
shopping for myself. Are any of you
giving up shopping for yourself this month? Have you checked out Anthro’s new
arrivals yet? Here are my top 3 items from Anthropologie for the month of December
if I was going to myself something this month. Do any of you have any favorites
that you can’t live without this month?

Holiday Gift Guide for the Hostess
How many of you have gone to
someone’s house for a dinner or housewarming party with the traditional bottle of wine, candle or a
small houseplant? I know that I'm totally guilty of
doing this myself. Giving a host or
hostess a gift is a great way to show a little token of gratitude. I’ve always been taught that you shouldn’t go
to someone’s house empty handed. Now I
don’t bring a gift every time I visit a friends’ home, but I definitely try to
follow Emily Posts etiquette rule during special occasions. These days, there
are so many options for a hostess gift beside the traditional bottle of
wine or a candle. Here are my top 10 ways to show the hostess with the mostest
that you appreciate their hospitality. Do you normally give the hostess a little something
extra during a visit to their home? Let me know in the comments and let me know if
you have any additional suggestions for this gift guide.

Moody Style: Floral + Polka Dots
Have you
mastered the art of pattern mixing? I
know that I haven’t yet. I’m always
worried that I’m going to mess up and look crazy in the end. I’ve been able to pull off a few outfits here
and there, but only after trying to replicate the same look from some of my
fellow bloggers.
I know
that some people have a hard time with this trend, so I came up with a couple
quick tips that could be helpful avoid feeling silly when mixing patterns. From
what I’ve seen so far, the key to mixing patterns it to mix different types of
patterns together that vary in scale. For instance, wearing stripes with florals,
plaids with stripes, and smaller polka dots with larger polka dots. Another tip for successful pattern mixing is
picking out some coordinating colors in the patterns or focusing on one base
color in both patterns.
And if mixing
patterns is too much for you, you can also cheat a little bit like I did in
today’s outfit. When I saw the Beryl Skirt
on the sale rack at Anthropologie, I knew I had to grab it because of the
instant pattern mixing. So go on and mix
those patterns. Let me know what you
think about this trend in the comments. Have
you started incorporating pattern mixing into your wardrobe?
