Fresh Picks to Follow – Cinco de Mayo Style

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!  I’m not sure about you guys, but I enjoy celebrating the holiday with great family and friends.  In the United States, Cinco de Mayo is a day of drinking Coronas, downing tequila shots and eating lots of chips and salsa. But, there is a little bit of history behind this wonderful holiday.  Do any of you know some of the facts? According to Britannica Online Encyclopedia, Cinco de Mayo is also known as the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, national holiday in Mexico in honor of a military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III.  The day is celebrated heavily in Mexico with speeches, parades and reenactments of the Battle of Puebla. For more detailed information, take a peak at the Britannica website.

Anyways, I’ve pulled together a list of some Cinco de Mayo inspired clothing to wear to your upcoming fiesta. Check out my top 10 Cinco de Mayo inspired pieces for this week’s Fresh Picks to Follow.  How do you plan to celebrate the holiday? Let me know!

Office Chic No. 2: Blouses that Work

My favorite blouse is one that is feminine, ladylike and versatile.  The right blouse can dress up a pair of jeans or create a conservative work look when paired with the right pair of trousers or pencil skirt. Women’s blouses come in so many different designs and styles, but the key to finding the right one is finding one that compliments your body type.  One blouse in particular that is a basic must-have for any working wardrobe is a white button-down shirt.  Nothing looks more confident than a crisp white button-down shirt underneath a structured blazer.  That’s just one option, but these days you don’t have to wear the traditional collared shirt under a suit or blazer.  You can mix it up to express your personality and find a blouse with a twist on a classic.  Whether you find a blouse with a ruffled collar, a blouse with no collar but a new neckline or a blouse with a bow tie like the ones below, your work wardrobe additions will create a more timeless and fashion forward look for the office.  What’s your favorite blouse in your closet?  How do you wear it to work?  Let me know.

May Wish List – Top 5

Hiya ladies – I hope that you all are having a great week so far.  I just got my May Anthropologie catalog today and I have some favorites that I’m itching to try on.  I normally narrow my wish list down to 3 items, but I’m making an exception this month. I really loving so many of Anthropologie’s dresses right now.  I’ve literally added 10 dresses to my online wish list.  I really hope that I can get at least one of these this month or next especially if there’s a sale. Do any of you have any favorites that you can’t live without this month? Anyways, here are my top 5 items from Anthropologie for the month of May (in no particular order).
