Moody Style: Little Red Dress

When the Sleeveless Geo-Lace Shift Dress came out, I really didn’t give it second look.  I initially thought it was a little too boxy for my liking.  However, when I went to my local store to look for something new to wear during the 4th of July weekend, my outfit options were very limited. Everything in the store was picked over and there weren’t many sizes available. I can’t remember what sale was going on that weekend, but my store was pretty cleaned out. Anyways, I saw the red dress on a mannequin with this calyer wash denim jacket draped over it and I decided to try it on along with this dress, this dress and this button-down shirt.  I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the way this dress on me. This dress is comfortable and a little oversized, but it really works with all of the stylish lace details. One thing that I love about this dress is the versatility. You can dress it up with some fun pumps like I did here or dress it down with some sandals or flip-flops. Have you had a chance to try on this dress? Or do you own it? What do you think about it?

SALE ALERT: This dress is on sale right now and you can save up to 30% off until August 17th
(check out the details here). It is available in belvedere red, ivory and black.

Moody Style: Denim and Stripes

Last night, I just realized that I haven’t written anything on my blog yet for the month of June and we’re already on the 9th days.  Yikes, I don’t know where the time went.  I need to get better about that.  Well, I’m flying down to Miami again for another work trip, so I figured I’ll start writing this post during my flight.  I should be doing actual work for my job, but who wants to do that on the plane.  I’ll be down in South Florida until Thursday, so be sure to check out my Instagram for more up to date posts of my comings and goings.  I’m pretty sure there will be another Jugo Fresh visit while I’m down there.  I’m obsessed with their açaí bowls.  I’ve tried to recreate them at home, but my version is no match for their delicious goodness.  Have you ever tried to recreate a drink or a meal at home after thinking about it for days, weeks or even months?  Were you successful with coming up with your own copycat recipe?  Let me know in the comments.

Moody Style: Rouge and Stripes

Here’s an outfit that I wore earlier this week, but I didn’t have a chance to post it.  I love the design of this skirt - it's so unique.  Even though this is technically a summer skirt, I think that I can get a lot of wear out of it in the fall.  I think that some knee-high boots and a turtleneck sweater will definitely take this skirt into the next season.  And of course adding a cardigan to this look would be great for layering. Do any of you have additional ideas on how to style this skirt during the fall and maybe winter months? Or should I put this one away until next year? Let me know in comments.

I’m pretty excited today because I only have one more day left at my current job.  It’s been very difficult to muster up the energy to wake up to go to work this week, but I did it.  As much as it pained me when the alarm went off each morning and as much as I would have liked to have some time off before the new job.  I’ve been working diligently each day. Unfortunately for me, I don’t have any gap between jobs because I start the new gig on Monday.  I know right - What gives?  And what stinks is that despite the fact that I’m leaving the office on Friday, I’ve been doing just as much work as before I turned in my notice.  It’s been  very frustrating.  I hoped that since I’ve even been training my replacement for the past two weeks that my last couple of days would be pretty slow.  However, I’ve apparently been in la la land.  After 2 ½ years, you would think I would have gotten picture by now.   Anyways, I have few things to do in the morning before I can pack up all my things and leave the office for good.   And, I can’t wait.  Have any of you left one job to pursue another opportunity?  Did any you have a gap in between or have a chance to take a break?  Let me know.

Moody Style: Wavy Cables

I’m kicking off my birthday weekend starting with taking the day off from work tomorrow.  My sister and one of my really good friends from Chicago are coming into town Friday morning and I can’t wait to see them.  My birthday is officially on Saturday, but I plan to do a majority of my celebrating on Friday night.   I have a dinner planned with some of my family and friends and then we’re off to hit up some bars for the night.  On Saturday, I plan to relax, shop (really just window shopping for me), watch a movie (either “Safe House” or “The Vow”) and have a nice pasta dinner.  And then on Sunday, I’m running a half marathon race in the Donna Marathon Race to Finish Breast Cancer.  I’m hoping to have a fabulous weekend.  I need it after having a horrible week.  Do you all have your weekend planned yet?  What are you up to this weekend?
