Moody Picks: New Year’s Eve Sparkle

Are you all geared up and ready for New Year's Eve? For some people, figuring out where to welcome in the new year can be a headache and to others deciding how to spend the last few hours of 2015 can be daunting. However, I think most fashionista's would agree with me that trying to figure out what to wear during the final moments of the year is a bigger ordeal.

I just made some impromptu plans to go out with a couple of friends for New Year’s Eve and now I’m freaking out a little because I have no idea what I’m going to wear.  As soon as I purchased my ticket for the party, I told myself that I needed to find something to wear that has lot of sparkles!  So I immediately started looking online for some ideas and inspiration.  Well, if you’re also in the same boat, then don’t worry because I’ve got you covered.  I’ve pulled together some cute dresses and pieces that you can wear to kiss 2015 goodbye. Oh and everything that I found is under $100 - I hope this helps!  Happy New Year sweet friends!

Moody Monday – Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale

Hi sweet friends! I hope that you guys had an absolutely wonderful Christmas with your families and that you all travel safely back home.  I went to my mom’s house for the Christmas break and had a nice quiet holiday with my loved ones. Spending time with my family is always a lovely time.  We ate traditional Jamaican dishes, watched a few basketball and football games on TV, took tons of pictures and of course spent some time doing a little shopping.  Most of the shopping we did was during the after-Christmas sales. We woke up bright and early to hit up Target and Kohl's to restock my Christmas wrapping supplies and some Christmas decorations for next year.

And since I received a few gift cards and some money for Christmas, I immediately made plans to spend them on a few gifts for myself. If any of you have gift cards or extra cash burning a hole in your wallet like I did, then the Nordstrom Half-Yearly sale is the sale for you. The Half-Yearly Sale started on Dec. 26, 2015 and will end on Jan. 3, 2016 and it’s the best time to save big on those items you’ve had your eye on all year.  For instance, I’ve wanted red Hunter boots for the longest time, so I was able to snag a pair the day after Christmas. For those of you wanting to try any hot new trend, now’s the time to get a great deal.  Well, here are some of my favorite pieces from the sale.  Let me know what are some of your favorites and let me know what you bought, if anything.

Moody Picks – Window Treatment

Fashionistas love a good pattern, especially one that is bold and graphic like the windowpane print.  This pattern is also referred to as the grid print or the checkered print.  But make no mistake, whatever you call this trendy print, it’s a pattern that’s here to stay.  This simple print is a perfect twist on stripes and a checkered plaid. Have you tried this trend yet? If not, then I recommend that you treat this print like any other stripe pattern. You can mix large and small windowpane prints together, pair it with a floral print or even wear the print from head-to-toe for a really bold look. Right now, you can find this unique and edgy print in most retail stores, especially in a classic black and white combination. Check out some of my picks below and let me know what you think.

Moody Picks – Halloween-Inspired Fashion

Do you love Halloween?  If so, do you plan on getting dressed up on October 31st?  I wouldn’t say that Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, but I do love seeing the decorations, eating way too much candy and checking out all the crazy costumes.

It’s very rare that I go all out and buy a whole costume for the spookiest holiday of the year. I usually try to keep my Halloween look pretty simple by adding some type of animal ears and tail combo to my outfit or by wearing a bright colored wig with some exaggerated make-up and I’m pretty much done.  If you’re like me and you just don’t see the point of buying a new costume every year, but you still want to be a little festive and get in on the Halloween fun. Then this is the post for you.  Whether you’re staying in or going out trick or treating, here are 13 ways to incorporate some Halloween spirit into your outfit without playing dress up.

Moody Picks – Falling for Fringe

The first trend that I wanted to talk about is fringe. The fringe trend is still going strong this year probably because it’s one of the easiest and most versatile looks to wear. There are simple fringe styles for an everyday look and some wild and modern styles for a weekend or an evening look. If you don’t think that you may be ready to wear a whole fringe outfit, then try wearing one piece at a time like a skirt or a sweater. Or you can keep the outfit simple with jeans and a tee and work in some fringe accessories like a pair of boots, a scarf or a purse. What do you think about this trend? Will you be rocking fringe this fall? Well, here are 16 of my favorite pieces that will surely add some fringe benefits to your closet. Let me know what are some of your favorite in the comments below. Also if you have a chance, check out my Pinterest page for additional fringe inspiration.
